To add a bit of fun and excitement, there are a number of competitions organised around the Festival, which are:
The Photo Competition - Sponsored by
The theme for the photograph competition is a simple one, ‘Food for thought’ As
the idea behind this year’s festival is local sustainability and
locally produced food, we want digital photographs of your ideas on the
theme of; growing, cooking and eating in Dursley.
- The competition is open to everyone, the categories being; children
from ages 5 to 11, young people from ages 12 to 16 and adults
- Printed entries to be submitted (no larger than A4) with your name, age, and a telephone number on the back
- Entries can be made by putting them into the envelope at your
school’s reception (if you're at school and they've circulated the
competition info to you directly) or delivered to Clifton Cameras
Parsonage Street Dursley by Friday June 19th
- There will be a prize for each age group with an overall winner’s prize of a digital camera kindly donated by Clifton Cameras

The theme for this competition is, 'What a Festival!'.
- The idea is that anyone can take video footage on 11th July, upload it to YouTube and then email a link to RThomas@wsimarketing.com
- All the entries will then be displayed on the Dursley Town Festival YouTube Channel for everyone to see.
- They can be shot using your mobile, video camera, what ever you want as long as you can upload them to YouTube.
- They can be fun, informative, imaginative, edited or unedited. But
in total they should provide a brilliant record of the day and be used
on this website for years to come.
- You don't have to be Spielberg to enter, because in all honesty we
don't have a clue what will win until we see it - so it could be the
one showing someone making a fool of themselves, unedited rather than
the perfectly edited video set to music.
- Then Rob Thomas (Managing Director for WSI Gloucestershire &
South Wales) will award the prize to the video he considers the best
entry.
- Closing Date for entries is 21st July 2009
...and the prize? A digital camera or video editing software to the value of £100.
So go on - have a go.... you've got nothing to lose, and a prize to win!
This competition is sponsored by WSI. (Which stands for We Simply
the Internet - who are also sponsoring the Dursley Town Festival by
providing and maintaining this website). | |
